box-decoration-break CSS Property
The box-decoration-break property controls how box decorations (border, padding, background, box-shadow) are handled when the box is fragmented across lines/columns/pages. clone gives each fragment full decoration.
span.tag {
box-decoration-break: clone;
}
.highlight {
background: yellow;
padding: 4px;
box-decoration-break: clone;
}
sliceThe default value. Decorations rendered as if box weren't fragmented — clipped at edges.cloneEach fragment gets full decoration (border + padding + background wrap each).
